webShaper new feature : Tax (GST) is launching soon, we want you to be fully prepared. Below we listed down few steps (5 steps) for you to consider and follow for a smooth GST transition.

Please keep in mind that step(2&3) can be done immediately before GST launching. 

 

For inclusive GST:

  • To be well prepared for GST enforcing from 1st April 2015, please do not add in any new Product into your store from now on until 31st of March 2015. Meanwhile, you can prepare for step 2 & 3 first.
  • Prepare your excel file for updating your product prices.
  • Once we update our GST feature for your store, you need to turn off your store and setup the Tax Settings and after doing that, you can re-upload/re-update your product using the bulk upload you have already prepared.

 

For exclusive GST:

  • If  you decide to keep your product prices the same, you only need to export the SKU, product name and Active. No need for the exporting price.
  • Remember to fill the column “Taxable” either Yes or No, in the imported excel file.
  • If all of your products are taxable, you do not need to update them(export/import) which means you can skip steps(2&3&5) and just force all of the products to be taxable by clicking on that in the Tax Settings process.

 

Step 1: Turn Off  Your Store

Before you setup the tax settings, you need to turn off your store first.

 

1. Go to Setting.

2. Click on Store.

3. Under tab Add Store On/Off, you will see the interface like the one shown below. Tick Off on ” *Turn Store: “.

4. Lastly, click on Save.

 

Step 2: Export Your Products

You will need to export your products in order to change the prices of your products if your products apply to the inclusive GST.

After exporting your products, you will need to prepare the excel file (.xlsx) in order to update your products by using bulk upload (import) system in webShaper which is shown in Step 3.

1. Go to Products.

2. Click on Import/Export.

3. Click on Export Products.

 

4. Select the columns you want to export out. The main columns that must be included are:

  • SKU
  • Product Name
  • Product Item Name/Product Group
  • Active
  • Price (If your product is exclusive, then you can ignore this Price.)
  • Taxable

 

5. After selecting the export details that you want, Click on Generate Export File as shown below:

 

6. Next, the products are exported successfully in .txt file. Hence, you will need to download the file by right click on the file link (eg, export 2015317-193918.txt) and click on Save link as… then save it in your desktop.

 

Step3: Change Prices and Add Taxable Column in Excel File (.xlsx)

Before you change prices of your products, you will need to transfer your exported file (.txt) to import excel filetype as .xlsx for importing product purpose on the last step. Kindly follow the steps below:

 

For Inclusive GST:

1. Open Microsoft Excel software, then drag and drop your exported .txt file into the Excel software. Then, you can see your product item listed in the column.

2. Click HERE to download this import excel .xlsx file as example. Then open this downloaded .xsl file in your Mircrosoft Excel.

3. Copy the column details from .txt file and Paste to .xlsx file.

4. Kindly REMEMBER to change the Active column from ( either True or False) to (either YES or NO) in Import excel file.

5. Next, you can update the Prices of each of your SKU and fill in the Taxable column (either YES or NO).

 

For Exclusive GST:

1. Open Microsoft Excel software, then drag and drop your exported .txt file into the Excel software. Then, you can see your product item listed in the column.

2. Click HERE to download this import excel .xlsx file as example. Then open this downloaded .xsl file in your Mircrosoft Excel.

3. Copy the column details from .txt file and Paste to .xlsx file.

4. Kindly REMEMBER to change the Active column from ( either True or False) to (either YES or NO) in Import excel file.

5. Next, you can fill in the Taxable column (either YES or NO).

6. When everything is done, Save it as .xlsx file type (eg, GSTupdate.xlsx).

**Please note that, the columns must include SKU, Product Name, Product Item Name, Active, Taxable. Price is optional (depends on Inclusive or Exclusive).  You can add in other columns details if you need to update others details.

 

 

After move all of the details to import-GST.xlsx file, fill in all of your Taxable columns.

 

Before you save your import-GSt.xlsx file, please note that your Excel Format cells must be in Text.

 

After click OK, then you can Save your .xlsx file.

 

Step 4: Setup Tax Settings in webShaper Store

This Tax Settings will be update in your webShaper store soon. Before you update your products by Bulk Upload (Importing/Updating), you will need to setup the Tax Settings. To configure the Tax Settings, please follow the steps below:

 

Create Tax Regions

1. Go to Tax.

2. Click on Tax Regions.

3. Click on Create.

4. Then fill in the details:

    • Country  (eg, Malaysia) – Kindly ensure that the country is active for shipping.
    • Rate (eg, 6 )
    • Tax Label ( eg, GST )
    • Enforce all the product to taxable – if you wish to enforce them, just tick . If no, do not tick on that.

 

 

 

Configure the Settings

 

A) Tax Inclusive

If your products include taxes in price (Inclusive), you must follow this step.

1. Go to Tax.

2. Click on Settings.

3. Tick on the Taxes are included in product price.

 

 

B) Shipping & Handling Fee

If you charge GST on shipping & handling fee, you must follow this step.

1. Go to Tax.

2. Click on Settings.

3. Tick on the Shipping & Handling fee subjected to tax.

 

 

 

C) Default Tax Region

The taxes calculation will be shown in Shopping Cart by default for this tax region is set.

1. Go to Tax.

2. Click on Settings.

3. Set the Default Tax Region to MY , if you would like to show the tax calculation in Shopping Cart.

4. Set the Default Tax Region to No Set, if you do not want to show the tax calculation in Shopping Cart.

 

 

 

Tax Product Group ( Optional )

This Tax Product Group is an optional. You can group your products and assigned to “Tax Overrides”.

1. Go to Tax.

2. Click on Tax Product Groups.

3. Click on the Create..

4. Fill in the Group Name.

5. Search the products –> Select the product items to be added –> Click on the Add.

6. Lastly, click on Save.

 

 

 

Tax Overrides ( Optional )

Tax overrides allows you to set specific rates, optionally specific products, and for certain geographic areas.

1. Go to Tax.

2. Click on Tax Overrides.

3. Click on the Create.

4. Fill in the details:

    • Country (eg, Malaysia)
    • State (eg, Labuan)
    • Postal codes and City are optional. If you would like to set specific places, the you can fill in these 2 fields. If not, you can just leave it blank.
    • Product Group (eg, All of the product OR the product group that you’ve created in “Tax Product Group”.)
    • Rate

5. Lastly, click on Save.

 

 

Step5: Re-upload : Update your products by import excel file (.xlsx) 

After you setup the Tax Settings in webShaper Store, now you can update your product by using bulk upload.

Please follow the steps below:

1. Go to Product.

2. Click on Import/Export.

3. Click on Import Products.

4. Select your excel file (eg, GSTupdate.xlsx) with all the product information.

5. Select Excel for Type.

6. Then, you will have to select Update Products (if you are updating your products).

7. Click Next.

8. Click Next to bulk upload your products.

9. You can also check whether your products have been uploaded successfully into the system or not by clicking on View Log/Previous File Uploaded under Import/Export.

10. Done.

 

Step6: Check your updated product prices before turning on your store 

Kindly make one last check on your products before hitting the market again and turning on the store.
