Starting 1st of June 2018, Goods & Services Tax (GST) rate is going down from 6% to 0%.

We have listed down few steps for you to follow for a smooth GST transition:

Step 1: Turn Off  Your Store

1. Go to Settings.

2. Click on Store.

3. Under tab Store On/Off, tick Off.

4. Lastly, click on Save.

 

 

Step 2: Change Tax Settings in webShaper Store

1. Go to Tax.

2. On your selected tax region, click on Details.

 

 

3. Change your GST Tax Rate from 6% to 0%.

4. Click Save.

 

 

5. Click Settings.

6. Make sure you tick “Shipping & handling subjected to tax”.

7. Click Save.

 

 

8. You can see that since your Tax has set to 0%, the Tax amount will be RM 0.00 too.

 

 

Step 3: Update your Shipping Rates

1. Go to Shipping.

2. On Custom Shipping Options section, select one of your Shipping Option Name. (e.g. DHL Express Worldwide)

3. Click Select One.

4. Click Edit Rates.

 

 

5. Change your Ship Rate for each zone.

As example, your Ship Rate (MYR) for (0.5-1) kg product in Zone 1 is RM 134.00.

So, as GST rate has drop to 0%, your Ship Rate should be RM 125.96 ~ 126.00.

6. Click Update Rates when you have successfully update all rates for each zone.

 

 

7. If you have a large sum of shipping rates, we suggest you to delete Shipping Option Name and re-create the new one. Follow the steps based on our tutorial here.

 

Step 4: Export Your Products

You will need to prepare the excel file (.xlsx) in order to update your products by using webShaper bulk upload.

Please follow the steps below according to your product, either main product or sub products.

 

i- Main Product (Single Product)

1. Go to Product.

2. Click Import/Export.

3. Click Export Products.

 

 

4. Tick on columns that you need to edit, such as:

  • Product Name
  • Active
  • Price
  • Discount
  • Taxable

Note: You can add in other columns if you need to update other details.

 

5. Click Generate Export File.

 

 

6. Next, the products are exported successfully in (.txt) file. Hence, you will need to download the file by right click on the file link (e.g. export 2015317-193918.txt) and click on Save link as... then save it in your desktop.

 

 

ii- Sub-Products 

1. Go to Product.

2. Click Import/Export.

3. Click Export Products.

 

 

4. Tick on columns that you need to edit, such as:

  • Product Name
  • Active
  • Price
  • Discount
  • Taxable
  • With Options
  • Parent SKU

Note: You can add in other columns if you need to update other details.

 

5. Click Generate Export File.

 

 

6. Next, the products are exported successfully in (.txt) file. Hence, you will need to download the file by right click on the file link (e.g. export 2015317-193918.txt) and click on Save link as... then save it in your desktop.

 

Step 5: Change Prices in Excel File

Before you change prices of your products, you will need to transfer your exported file (.txt) to import Excel fileype.

1. Open Microsoft Excel software, then drag and drop your exported (.txt) file into the Excel software. Then, you can see your product item listed in the column.

2. Next, you can Update the Price of each of your SKU with 0% GST rate.

3. Do not forget to change “Worksheet Name” to Sheet1.

 

 

4. Save your Excel file in (.xlsx) format.

 

Step 6: Re-upload : Update your products by import Excel file (.xlsx) 

1. Go to Product.

2. Click on Import/Export.

3. Click on Import Products.

 

 

4. Select your excel file (e.g. GSTupdate.xlsx) with all the product information.

5. Select Excel for Type.

Note: Worksheet Name should be Sheet1 because you have set the worksheet name on your Excel file.

You can refer Step 5 – number 3.

6. Then, you will have to select Update Products (if you are updating your products).

 

 

7. Click Next.

8. Click Next to bulk upload your products.

9. You can also check whether your products have been uploaded successfully into the system or not by clicking on View Log/Previous File Uploaded under Import/Export.

 

Step 7: Check your updated product prices before turning on your store

Kindly make one last check on your products before hitting the market and turn on the store again.

 

Other things to take notes on:

 

1. For BizStore client who are using Marketplaces Sync (especially if you use Tier 3 pricing).

  • If you set Tier 3 pricing for each product item, you have to change the Tier 3 pricing manually (one by one) under Sync Product Item list in webShaper control panel.
  • If you did not set Tier 3 pricing, then no need do this steps.

Here’s how you can change Tier 3 pricing:

1. Login to your webShaper store control panel.

2. Go to Marketing.

3. Click Marketplaces.

4. Click on any marketplace that you would like to change the Tier 3 pricing. (e.g. Lazada)

5. Go to your product item.

6. Click Sync Product Items.

7. Click Select.

8. Click Price.

 

 

9. Change your Marketplace Price and Marketplace Discount.

10. Click Done after you finish.
